Statement of the Faculty of Psychology on the War in Ukraine

Fakultät für Psychologie

The Faculty of Psychology is deeply concerned about the military invasion of Russia in Ukraine. We are worried about the safety and the well-being of the people in Ukraine as well as about the peace in the region and the world at large. The protection, the respect as well as the regard of freedom, self-determination and physical and personal integrity are central and indispensable rights of all humans. Aggression is no mean to solve conflicts and we consider the non-violent and respectful dialog as needed and applicable.

The acts of war initiated by Russia need to be stopped immediately to avoid even greater human suffering. We strongly appeal to all to actively do and support anything that can be done to stop this war. We fully support the Statement of the University of Basel, the Statement of solidarity with Ukraine  and the European Psychology response to current conflict.
