Do I automatically receive the specialist title "Specialist Psychologist in Child and Adolescent Psychology FSP" after completing the doctorate with specialist training? |
No. The specialist title must be applied for by the candidate at the FSP (Federation of Swiss Psychologists). Can I work more than 40-50% in my practice position while I am in the SEED program? In principle, the practice position should not be more than 50%. Should there be a higher workload at short notice in the practice placement, it is possible in exceptional cases to make up the research time elsewhere. This should be discussed individually. |
Do I get money for the doctorate itself? |
The doctorate itself is only funded from the outset in exceptional cases (scholarship); it is possible to obtain funding through foundations. At the moment, the training to become a child and youth psychologist (SKJP) is co-financed by the doctorate (Jacobs Foundation) and thus offers financial aid. |
Do I necessarily need a practice position to start the doctorate or to apply? |
No, you can already apply without an internship. However, it is easier to obtain funding via the internship. However, there is also the option of completing a doctorate purely without a practical placement (see overview). |
When can I apply? |
The application periods can be found under: Current. However, you can find out at any time whether all places have already been allocated. Individual solutions can be sought in exceptional cases. |
Letter of recommendation: should this be from research or from practice? |
Both areas are relevant for the application process, for the doctorate application the research qualification counts slightly more. |
Is it possible to do a doctorate without specialist training on a part-time basis? |
Yes |
What is the scope of the doctorate in percentage of working hours? |
The doctorate takes up about 50% of your working hours. |
What funding opportunities are there? |
There are various fundings that can offer possible funding depending on the research topic. This varies from case to case. |
