PhD students can choose their specific dissertation topic from one of the current research topics that are regularly called for proposals on this page. The research topics are broadly formulated so that PhD students can further specify them based on their own interests. The research concept must be submitted to the PhD committees for review. For PhD students with specialist training, the extent to which the employer can support the researches in a practical environment by providing resources is examined in order to gain synergies.
It is recommended that PhD students submit the dissertation project as a research project to the Swiss National Science Foundation SNSF as a research project eligible for funding for reviews(Doc.CH; next submission deadline: September 10, 2017)
PhD students deepen their research skills by attending courses on the subject of research methods and analysis techniques (typical content: Research methods and designs; Selected statistical procedures; Fundamentals of practical research in school psychology).
The PhD students' research questions, upcoming problems and work progress are discussed in a research colloquium(brown bag lunch) held every two weeks in the presence of the PhD students, the head of the Graduate School and experts consulted. In addition, three-day intensive blocks take place twice a year.
