A study by Dr Lena Glaser shows that taking regular cold showers benefits both the environment and one’s health. The 719 participants reported improved mental and physical wellbeing, as well as fewer absences from work. Over time, cold showers also reduced costs through lower water and energy consumption. Each participant saved 15 kg of CO₂ over a twelve-week period. This is equivalent to a 100 km car journey. Glaser emphasises that small, practical changes like these boost motivation and are not perceived as a sacrifice.
