Maintaining and promoting mental health is a social responsibility, as mental health is a component and prerequisite for not only individual quality of life but also the capacity to perform and function. Mental disorders are among the most common illnesses and entail immense individual, social, societal, and economic costs. In addition, they have far-reaching consequences for somatic health, quality of life and performance as well as coping with developmental tasks. Accordingly, the evidence-based diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders is of great significance. Clinical psychology offers important contributions in research and application in various areas and for all populations. The core research area “Health & Interventions” is taking up this challenge and making an important contribution to safeguarding and restoring mental health by improving diagnostics, researching causes and causal relationships, and developing and evaluating innovative, effective and sustainable interventions.

The research area Health & Interventions encompasses the following centers:
Clinical Psychology and Epidemiology (Prof Dr Roselind Lieb)
Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy (Prof Dr Jens Gaab)
Forensic Psychology (Prof Dr Jelena Zumbach-Basu)
Youth Mental Health (Prof Dr Ines Mürner-Lavanchy)
Additionally, the following centers will be established in the very near future:
