The core research area Society & Choice concentrates on human behavior in the social and economic environment. The research area focuses on key societal challenges of the future, such as climate change, the shift towards a sustainable economy, misinformation in public discourse, demographic change and the associated challenges for social security systems, increasing digitalization in many areas of society and the economy, and social interaction in a hybrid world. These challenges and the ongoing transformation constantly confront people with new questions. This shift requires a proactive process of human adjustment and adaptation. People have a choice as to how they master these challenges and what interventions they use to meet them. With our research, we try to find out how people perceive their social and economic environment, interact with other people in that environment, and then adapt to it.
