At the Center for Cognitive and Decision Sciences we are committed to teaching evidence-based practices that can make individuals and groups make better, informed decisions. Our goals are to foster critical and independent thinking, improve data analytics skills, and train effective communication. We believe these abilities are crucial in today's society and central to any successful career in science or business.

Bachelor's Program

The Bachelor’s program at the University of Basel offers a comprehensive education in fundamental scientific knowledge and the core areas of psychology. The Center for Cognitive and Decision Sciences contributes to this effort by providing students with training in the principles and practices of evidence-based decision making through specific lectures, as well advising of student research projects (i.e., bachelor project/thesis).

Master's Program

The Center for Cognitive and Decision Sciences plays a central role in the MSc specialization in Social, Economic, and Decision (SED) Psychology. The Center for Cognitive and Decision Sciences offers a number of courses designed to help MSc students develop deeper knowledge of decision psychology, data analytics, and the communication of evidence and risk. Further, we advise students in writing their MSc thesis on a wide range of topics related to evidence-based decision making.

Doctoral Program

The Center for Cognitive and Decision Sciences hosts and advises students with a MSc degree in psychology or related fields, who wish to conduct scientific research in the cognitive and decision sciences. Doctoral students in Cognitive and Decision Sciences are part of the Doctoral Program Social, Economic, and Decision Psychology.
